The Go Wild, Stay Well project has been set up to enable people who
experience mental distress to undertake physical activity against an
inspiring backdrop to improve overall mental health and offer the
opportunity to make a positive impact to the environment.
It is run along the 'green exercise' principles of 'ecotherapy',
which a Mind research project identified as having direct benefits on
health and well being, including mental health.
Project Manager, David Topham started his new role in April 2010. He is responsible for the running of the project and the co-ordination
of volunteers. You can e-mail David at
davidt@mindtws.org.uk.
Go Wild, Stay Well was featured in The Ecologist magazine in
September 2010. You can read the article
here.
Ecominds
Go Wild, Stay Well is funded by Ecominds - a grant scheme run
by Mind to allocate £7.5 million of Big Lottery funding to about 120
environmental projects, helping get thousands of people to become
involved in outdoor projects to benefit their mental health. Mind TWS is
working with the Somerset Wildlife Trust to deliver this project.
Walk on the Wild Side!
You can join us on Saturday 2 July 2011 as we take a Walk on the Wild
Side to raise money for this great project.
