 Hosted by Mind in Taunton & West Somerset, the
Service Users’ Complementary Holistic project operates every Tuesday
and treatments offered include massage, aromatherapy and reflexology.
The project is proving a great success and appointments with Maggi – a
qualified practitioner – are often fully booked several weeks in advance.
Clients are welcomed by one of several trained volunteers who offer them a
health-giving juice drink. While the treatment received is also free, donations
are requested from those who can afford them to help ensure the future of the
project.
Over the last year, the project has taken over 300 appointments and talks
have been given to a number of community groups across the county.
Now well past its original 6 month pilot, support has been received from
various sources and Maggi and her volunteers are continually working towards
raising more funds to ensure the project’s future. A new grant has just
been awarded by TOPSS to run and expand the project over the next two years.
